Lent & easter schedule
2022

Lent

Lent is the penitential season of the Church’s year, beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending with the morning prayer on Holy Thursday. Lent has six Sundays, the sixth of, which is called Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion and marks the beginning of Holy Week.

The Easter Triduum begins with the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. It commemorates the Lord’s passion and death on Good Friday, and reaches its high point at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday evening and ends with evening Prayer on Easter.

Traditionally the Lenten season is a time of penance throughout the Universal Church. Lent is also a season in which prayer, the reception of the sacraments, charity and almsgiving are emphasized. Fasting and abstinence are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. All the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat.

of self-denial, almsgiving, and Scripture reading are recommended.

Lent & EASTER SCHEDULE
2021

This is the season in our liturgical year when the Church encourages us to increase our prayer, fasting and almsgiving in order to enter more deeply into the mystery of our Lord's Passion and Death and to celebrate more fully His Resurrection.
